Influencer Auggie conducted a small experiment in which he asked participants to distinguish AI-generated music from works by great composers. For the test, the AI generated an oboe concerto in the Baroque style. All compositions were played through the same synthesizer to eliminate the influence of differences in performance and instrument sound. According to the participants, at least half of them had professionally studied music theory and history.
The results showed that 60% of listeners mistook the AI-generated composition for music written by a human. For Handel's concerto, this figure was 58%, while for Vivaldi's work, it was 43%.
At the same time, the project's creator noted that artificial intelligence still struggles with certain aspects of classical music composition, particularly when attempting to reproduce the style of Mozart.
