Company Figure AI conducted an unusual experiment in which three humanoid robots autonomously sorted packages for over 24 hours without a single failure. Initially, engineers planned the test to last only 480 minutes, but when it became clear that the machines were handling the task without issues, they decided to continue. Over the course of a day, the robots processed more than 28,000 notifications, consistently maintaining a human-level pace.
During the live stream, the robotic units were given names: Bob, Frank, and Gary. The machines operated on a local neural network called Helix-02, with no remote control system — meaning they independently found barcodes, sorted packages onto conveyor belts, and handled unexpected situations.
If a problem occurred on the line, the robot would automatically go for maintenance while another robot took over its tasks to maintain a stable workflow.
